I would really like to start a Jam here in Spooner and have even approached the owner of the local coffee shop about holding them there. So far it's been slow going. I hope the ideas and support here will help me accomplish this goal.
I moved to this small town a little more than three years ago and have definitely made a foot hold here in the musical realm, so I believe that I can get a Jam going here. Looking forward to making this a reality!

Folks should be able to play these songs:
Dear Mr. Fantasy - this song is basically g/f/c There is a middle part where the facilitator can choose to play the chords solo while others rest or you can teach them the chords. Those middle chords: Em/G 3x and then Em/F/D7. There is a cool version of Winwood doing it w/ Garcia. I dropped the key a step b/c I can't sing as high as Winwood.
Paperback Writer - by the Beatles - only 2 chords. I put it in E7/A and…

A Community Music Circle is a few simple ideas that enable a group of people to play music together for the simple joy of making music.
1. Select an easy song to play (our ever-increasing list of fun, simple, and jamable songs (w/ chords) is on the side bar and in the Forum section of this site.) TO ACCESS OUR FAVORITE 100 SONGS PLEASE BECOME A MEMBER - IT'S FREE AND EASY AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR IDEAS OF SONGS THAT WORK!! For example: these are a few of my favorite sings (and jams):
1.1. Knocking On Heaven's Door: G/D/Am (Bob Dylan)
1.2. Fire On The Mountain: A/G (The Grateful Dead)
1.3. Call Me The Breeze A/D/E (JJ Cale)
2. Use a few guidelines that keep folks organized. (these guidelines - I call them the "non-rules" - are in the Forum section)
3. Be the person willing to organize the jam. (once it is established, this role can be shared)
Follow these simple steps to make it happen:
1. Decide to do it!
2. Find a venue (music store, park and rec, etc...)
3. Publicize it. Invite folks.
4. Go to the "Plans for You to Use" in the forum section and print out and read "Session 1".
5. If you don't like the songs in session 1- substitute your own.
6. Read through the "Tips" and "10 Non-Rules" found in the Forum.
7. Have a blast!
Lots of other ideas to help you plan and publicize your music jam are in the Forum section.
The Community Music Circle accommodates all instruments, voices and ages!
You can lead one as a free or a paid service.
The other details are included on this website.
