SUMMARY:Musical Bridges
DESCRIPTION:Dear CMC Members,\nThe East Haddam Land Trust is hosting a
musical event to raise money to build a bridge over the 8Mile River t
o help complete the new 10 mile, multi-town, Richard Goodwin Trail. We
also hope to sign-up new members to the EHLT.  The event will be hel
d on the lawn of The Goodspeed on June 15, from 6:30-10.\nThe format o
f this musical event will be a \"Pick-Up Band Jamboree\" or PUB JAM fo
r short. I hope there will be more of these PUB JAMS in the future.
A PUB JAM is a more organized version of a Community Music Circle.\nEa
ch PUB will be comprised of a PUB captain and randomly assigned pre-re
gistered musicians. Each PUB will have about 25 minutes to play with 1
0 minutes to change between PUBs. The PUB captain will propose and sub
mit 4-5 easily learned songs. (community music circle type songs:  2-
4 chords with space to jam).\nFor example, if I were to be a PUB capta
in, I would select Franklin's Tower. I would need to be prepared to si
ng the song,  show the chords, demonstrate the rhythm,  arrange lead
breaks, start and end the song.\nIf you would like to play, please em
ail me the following info at pubjammusic@gmail.com  Please put \"June
15\" in the memo line:\n1. what instrument (s) you would like to play
?\n2. do you want to take a lead break or do you see yourself  primar
ily as rhythm?\n3. would you be willing to be a \"captain\" this time
or in a future event?\nYour emailed responses  will help me create a
list of available musicians to place into PUBS the night of the event.
That's right - we will know our PUB's members moments before we pla
y our first song.\nThis format puts a little more organization on the
community music circle concept but retains the spontaneity, energy, an
d joy of making music in the moment. \nI, with some help, will set up
most of the staging. We will have a community PA system (thanks Rob B
radway!!), drum set, bass amp, percussion toys, guitar amps, and keybo
ards. \nThe size of the audience is unknown. We will invite the 300+
members of the Land Trust and hopefully others will show up as well. B
ut who knows?\nPlease email me...remember...the music plays the band..
